The Brief

A beautiful 2000 acre community, looking for a golf course to improve the real estate potential.

The Result

A conservationist approach managed to maintain a real African feel for both the course and the estate. Having opened in 2015 it has already been voted the No 1 course in Tanzania, and has successfully hosted the Tanzania Open. Some wildlife roams the fairways, with the lakes and streams providing habitat for some amazing bird life.

DAVID SAYS...

I feel proud of this outcome. What was a forested but otherwise quite ordinary site has been transformed into a lovely course, with the introduction of lakes and streams all fed by the nearby Usa river, which flows through the course. The project was something of a ‘win-win’ for the community too. We conserved water by lining lakes and controlling overflow, and so provided local villages with a more reliable source of water. I love the African character of the course, and it is a real challenge, with the par 3 island 18th, right in front of the clubhouse, as a memorable finale.
